I caught him just before he stuffed his mouth full of grapes. He was trying to be sneaky but I caught him in action. These are the images that I love to capture at weddings. It’s all about capturing moments which can be extremely difficult. There is very little for margin for error. The shutter has to be released at the peak of the moment, much like a sports photographer shooting athletes at the peak of action. The most obvious ability a wedding photographer must possess is the ability to anticipate. Anticipation is a function of how adept the photographer is at observation. My goal during the ceremony and reception is to be nearly invisible. I like to blend into the backgrounds as much as possible. When people are not aware they are being photographed they are most likely to act themselves. Moving quietly through the event, I’m alert and ready, but always listening and watching, sensitive to what is happening in one minute and always ready to react to the unexpected.
